Swimming Lessons
Sullivan Park Pool offers 7 Red Cross Certified levels of Swimming Lessons: Water Babies, Level 1, 2, 3,4,5, and 6. Lessons are held Monday-Friday at three different 30 minute time slots. This summer we are offering Saturday Lessons for the Month of July! The registration fee is $30.00 per child.
Descriptions
WATER BABIES - Ages 6 months -3 years. Parents ease their children into swimming at a pace that suits their particular child. Lessons are directed towards parent/child interactions in the water.
LEVEL 1 - Introductions to Water Skills. Children must be at least 3 feet tall to be in Level 1. The objective is to help young children feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely. Students practice floating, blowing bubbles, and scooping.
LEVEL 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Students must have a Level 1 certificate or demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 1. The objective of Level 2 is to give students success with fundamental skills, and it is the beginning of true locomotion skills.
LEVEL 3 - Stroke Development. Students must have a Level 2 certificate or demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 2. Level 3 builds on the skills learned in Level 2 with extensive guied practice in deeper water. Students learn to coordinate strokes and kicking to become fully mobile in the water without assistance.
LEVEL 4 - Stroke Impovement. Students must have a Level 3 certificate or demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 3. The objective of Level 4 is to develop confidence, endurance, and efficiency in the strokes already learned and to introduce new strokes and basic swimming elements.
LEVEL 5 - Stroke Refinement. Students must have a Level 4 certificate or demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 4. The objective of Level 5 is coordination and refinement of strokes. Students refine their performance strokes and increase their distances. Flip turns are introduced.
LEVEL 6 - Swimming and Skill Proficiency. Students must have a Level 5 certificate or demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 5. The objective is to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smootheness over greater distances.
